IDC Staff Instructor Pre-Requisites
To become an IDC Staff Instructor you must be at least 18 years old. You must be certified as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer in active teaching status for the current year. You must also be an Emergency First Response Instructor.
Taking the IDC Staff Instructor course provides you with in-depth knowledge of the instructor development process and prepares you to shape the next generation of PADI Professionals. After a pre-assessment of dive theory, dive skills and role-model presentation techniques, you’ll participate in these sessions:
- Instructor development standards, procedures and curriculum
- How to organize and conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor course
- The psychology of evaluation and counseling
You also need to audit an entire IDC. Once certified as an IDC Staff Instructor you can assist with Instructor training during IDCs and teach the Assistant Instructor course independently.
Our Instructor Development Course at Scuba Shack, Koh Tao runs over a period of 13 days. This includes a day off half way through. The IDC Staff Instructor, including the pre-assessment and auditing an entire IDC will take 16 days.
34000 Baht including the Course Director manual (16000 Baht without CD Manual). The Course Director manual is required material. This DOES NOT include the PADI Staff Instructor membership fee. You pay that directly to PADI upon completion of your training. It is currently AUD $128.
